The service
OnionSkin is a Chrome extension that traces design values from a page you choose, plus this website and optional paid “folio” features (saving, comparing, extra exports, and related tools). It is provided by BryteLabs and Nestamedia Studios (“we”, “us”).
Accounts and eligibility
You don’t need an OnionSkin account to use the free extension. You must be able to enter a binding agreement (usually 18+, or the age of majority where you live). You’re responsible for how you use the extension on your devices and Chrome profile.
The free extension
Tracing pages and the core free features are provided at no charge. We may change, limit, or discontinue free features with reasonable notice where we can. Free use is still subject to these terms and our privacy policy.
The folio (paid)
The folio is a one-time purchase (currently listed as $3.99 unless we say otherwise at checkout). Paid features may include keeping sheets permanently, comparing sheets, exporting extra formats, and related tools described on the pricing page.
- Payment is handled by our checkout provider; their terms apply to the transaction.
- Access is tied to a licence key / validation — don’t share keys publicly.
- Some paid features may offer a short free trial (for example a few uses) before purchase.
Because the product is digital and delivered immediately, refunds are handled case by case. Contact hello@bytelabs.co if something went wrong with payment or access.
Your responsibilities
You agree to:
- Only trace pages you’re allowed to inspect
- Not use OnionSkin to break the law, abuse others’ systems, or violate site terms
- Not reverse engineer, resell, or redistribute the paid product without permission
- Be careful what you paste into third-party AI tools — you choose what leaves your machine
Design values traced from a third-party site don’t grant you rights in that site’s branding or design. Use sheets as reference for your own work in a way that respects copyright and trademarks.
Our intellectual property
OnionSkin’s name, branding, website, and software are ours (or our licensors’). These terms don’t transfer ownership to you. See the licence for how you may use the software.
Third-party services
The product may link to or integrate with Chrome, Polar (or another payment provider), GitHub, AI tools, and similar services. Those services have their own terms. We’re not responsible for their availability or policies.
Disclaimer
OnionSkin is provided “as is”. Tracing is best-effort: pages differ, browsers differ, and some values may be incomplete or wrong. We don’t warrant that output is fit for any particular purpose, including production design systems or legal compliance.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent allowed by law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential loss, or for lost profits, data, or goodwill, arising from use of OnionSkin. Our total liability for any claim relating to the paid folio is limited to the amount you paid us for that purchase in the twelve months before the claim. Nothing in these terms limits liability that can’t be limited under applicable law (including for fraud or death/personal injury caused by negligence).
Changes and termination
We may update these terms; the date at the top will change when we do. We may suspend or end access if you breach these terms or misuse the product. You can stop using OnionSkin at any time by removing the extension.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, and courts there have exclusive jurisdiction, except where mandatory consumer protections in your country say otherwise.
